Gastronomy is one of the main factors which attracts millions of international tourists to Spain every year.

From the bar counter to the stool in the tavern, passing through a sunny terrace or the most sophisticated table you can imagine: a walk through the streets of Madrid invites you to enter its establishments where just the smell Will make you taste the most iconic spoon dishes of our gastronomy.

The most traditional dishes, among others, are:

  • “Cocido madrileño” – A hearty chickpea-based stew with various meats (like chorizo, morcilla, pork, and beef), vegetables, often served in stages: soup, chickpeas and vegetables, and then the meats. It is especially recommended on cold winter days for lunch.
  • “Bocadillo de calamares” – this would be the equivalent of fast food: a sandwich made with deep-fried calamari rings in a baguette, typically enjoyed with a squeeze of lemon and sometimes with aioli or mayonnaise.
  • “Patatas bravas” –  Fried potato chunks served with a spicy tomato sauce and sometimes aioli. It is also one of the most popular tapas options.

The most liked gastronomy custom is tapas. Having tapas means to have a small portion of food, in many bars it is still served complimentary as an accompaniment to your drink. Naturally, it is possible to go to a restaurant and have more elaborate tapas experience.
