Vice President Operations, Asia | Raffles
In his capacity, Richard oversees the operational aspects of all Raffles properties in Asia by working closely
with all stakeholders and supporting the region’s General Managers to drive guest experience, employee
engagement, sustainability and financials.
Austrian-born, Richard gained over 30 years of international hospitality experience in Europe, North
America, Middle East, Africa and Asia with an extensive background in luxury hotel operations at both
operational and corporate levels.
Prior to his current role, Richard held senior management positions including Managing Director, General
Manager, Regional Director and progressive leadership appointments with iconic brands such as Raffles,
Fairmont and Kempinski.
Following graduation from Hotel Management School in Austria, he subsequently obtained an MBA in
International Hospitality & Tourism Management from the University of Leicester, England and holds
Certificates in Revenue Management, Real Estate Investments and Asset Management from Cornell
University.
Richard resides with his wife, son and daughter in Bangkok. They enjoy the outdoors, nature, culinary
discoveries throughout Asia as well as spending time with family in their homes in Thailand, the Austrian
Alps and Canada.
