Batik is a traditional Indonesian art form that involves applying wax to fabric and then dyeing it to create intricate patterns. • Do: Enhance your look with modest accessories such as traditional jewellery or a headscarf.
  • Don’t: Overdo accessories; balance is key, especially in formal settings.

Colours and Patterns:

  • Do: Select colours that suit the occasion, with darker hues for formal events.
  • Don’t: Choose overly bold or clashing patterns unless it’s appropriate for the setting.

Footwear:

  • Do: Wear dress shoes or sandals that complement the formality of the outfit.
  • Don’t: Pair batik with overly casual footwear, like flip-flops, in formal settings.

Occasions:

  • Do: Reserve batik for formal events, weddings, cultural celebrations, and ceremonies.
  • Don’t: Wear batik to very casual outings where traditional attire may be out of place.
